About the Artist

Katya Scott is an aspiring counseling psychologist and researcher who will be working as an NIH Postbac this coming year. She has a long-standing interest in the healing power of art, and will graduate from St. Mary’s College of Maryland in 2024 with a B.S. in Psychology and a B.A in Art. Through narrative digital illustrations, she expresses themes of community and belonging. In her latest body of work, Yellow Field, Blue River, she connects to her Ukrainian heritage and childhood in Maryland through a meditative series of landscape-focused pieces inspired by significant memories in her life. At SMCM, she is active in her community as a Peer Health Educator, Service Coordinator of Psi Chi, and Treasurer of the Veggie Co-Op. She loves life by the river and hopes to someday return to St. Mary’s as a professor.
